We will be heading into the world of Photography this next week so there is some house keeping that we need to do.

1. Please verify that your computer has a piece of software called GIMP installed on it and that you are able to open the software.

2. Please open iPhoto, if you have not already done so. I would like for you to download 10 images at least from two distinct categories of your choice. For example street art & sports.

3. Internet research. Email me your results.

Friday Assignment

Today is the wrap up day of this lesson. Make sure that you have the 15 links in the three different link lists. The two HTML/Java Gadgets of your choice. You also should have one video clip of the "One" word that describes Hillside to you.  Post the video clip to your blogspot and then send it to me at 1-21.

Thursday Assignment

1.  I would like for you to find one more HTML/JAVA Gadget to input onto your page.
Also check your page to make sure you have the required 15 links under the 3 link list gadgets that you put on your page on Tuesday. You also should have friend-ed or became a member of someones page.(5)

Tuesday Assignment

Today you are to use the  gadget "links List". I would like you to make three Links list on your page. Each link list should have a minimum of five links.

Monday Assignment

1. Students need to include their name in the title of their web page. Example if your title is currently  "Sports" then it should now read "Sports by your name". Or look above to see that I changed what use to read Hillside High  to now read  Hillside High by Mr. Connor.  To do this, select "Design" on the design page  select "Edit" for the title gadget.

2. Each student needs to add a published post to their site. Last Wednesday's assignment was to comment on how your vacation went, how about write a post on your site on how vacation went or write an article on something that interests you. Many of you have creative titles you could theme your post to match the title of your page? To do this, select "Add Blog"  in the new dialogue box put in a title and write or add photo in blog area.

3. Place a photo for your icon image. It can be you using one of the funky photo booth modifications or an image from the Internet. I just want something other than the body outline image.

3. We will discuss how to navigate through the different blog spot pages that the classes have created.
A: From your page click on "design". Once the page changes to the design page click on "Dashboard" on the top of the page.  Scroll down some so you can see the column list that says "Reading Lists Blogs that I am following."  If you do not have any blogs you are following see me during the class period and we will get you set up. You should be following at least 5 different blogs. ( These are simply your friends blogspot pages.

Republican Candidates

Leading up to the Presidential Election to be held next year the Republican party are attempting to select a candidate to run against the current president Obama. The first primary was held this past Tuesday in the state of Iowa. I would like you to research the Republican candidates and then do two things. First I would like you to take part in our polling of the candidate that you think you could live with to run this country. The poll is to the right of this article. Second I would like you to post a comment about one of the candidates. The comment can be either a reason why to vote for the person or a reason not vote for a person. Please be respectful of other peoples comments and opinions.

How was your Holiday?

I spent my vacation working around the house. I moved an existing shed. First I had to tear part of it down then I used two car jacks and moved the remaining portion of the shed about 20 feet. Once I moved the shed I rebuilt it. I then picked up an used jacuzzi from a friend. To move the jacuzzi I rented a trailer to haul it to my home. It was very heavy so I used piano dollies to move it from the front of the house to the rear. Once I got the jacuzzi into the place I wanted it  I then had to figure out how to run electricity to it. I did not want to break up the existing concrete so I came up with a plan to build a low wall to run the conduit to the jacuzzi on. Once I installed the conduit and ran the electrical wire inside the conduit I was ready to fire up the jacuzzi. When I turned the breaker on for the power to the jacuzzi it tripped the secondary breaker - meaning something was either not done correctly or something within the jacuzzi was not working correctly. I spent a day trying to figure out what I may had done incorrectly and could not come up with anything I had done wrong. I contacted a company out of the phone book to come take a look at my work and the jacuzzi. It took a couple of days to get them to come to my home but they did show up and informed me that the heating coil in the jacuzzi was not working and was the cause of the breaker tripping. I was relieved to hear that I did the electrical wiring correctly, but bummed that I now had to wait for a part to be ordered and installed before I could use the jacuzzi.   I am still waiting for the company to come back with a new heating coil so I can enjoy the jacuzzi.
